The former head of the Albanian secret service, Fatos Klosi, has made strong accusations about what happened during the January 21, 2011 protest, suggesting that not only did everything happen publicly, but also that there was deliberate interference to destroy evidence.
According to him, immediately after the event, actions were taken to hide the traces, including manipulating data in the Prime Minister's Office and keeping security structures isolated for several days. Klosi placed political responsibility on former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, implying that the escalation of the situation was not accidental, but part of a scenario to show strength and control.
"On January 21, it took place in front of the cameras. I was in the square in front of the Prime Minister's Office. Berisha worked to ensure that there was no evidence of the event. The Prime Minister's Office server was deleted. The guard was kept inside for 3 days. There were injured people and they were treated at the Prime Minister's Office. The prosecutor was called one of the most scandalous epithets just because she issued an arrest warrant. Those who caused the event fought to have the evidence hidden.
No order of the prosecutor was approved and they made fun of her. It was absolute power then, not like today. Rama says he supports the prosecution. Democracy is the future that will enter the EU, which will take a long time. Security is a more delicate phenomenon. It happened to us in the 1997 elections. They were done with the help of Italian armored vehicles. Their killing is a loss of security. This was a message that they gave us and I am a witness. For partners, security is important, then democracy. Security is achieved through organization. Berisha knew this. They told me that we are with the government that guarantees security. Berisha knew and wanted to show that I ensure security in the country even if people have to be killed," Klosi told 'QUO VADIS'.
