The Qafë Bota border crossing point will operate with extended hours starting from the morning of Monday, May 11. The decision was announced by the Greek customs authorities of Mavromati and is expected to directly impact the improvement of movement between Albania and Greece.
According to the official announcement, citizens and vehicles will be able to cross the border from 05:00 to 23:00 Albanian time. According to Greek time, the service will be open from 06:00 to 24:00.
The change in hours comes on the eve of the summer season, when the number of tourists, migrants and residents of border areas using this crossing point increases significantly. The extension of the service window aims to avoid the creation of long queues and improve the pace of processing vehicles and documents.
Qafë Bota is one of the most used points in the south of the country, especially during the summer months and festive periods. Due to the high flow during peak hours, citizens are often faced with long waits on both sides of the border.
Authorities expect the new schedule to bring easier traffic and reduce congestion at peak times.
