The chief of firefighters in Patos, Alket Halimi, is calling for immediate air intervention to bring the fires in the pine crowns in this city under control.
Halimi described the situation as extremely difficult. According to him, the fire has reached large proportions and the flames are reaching a height of 50 meters, and for this reason, aerial intervention is required.
He also stressed that the large flames are endangering the lives of firefighters from the ground, while adding that homes are not currently at risk.
"The fire has reached extraordinary proportions. The fire is being helped by strong winds. It will be difficult to bring the flames under control. Immediate intervention from the air is required. The height of the flames reaches about 50 meters. Extraordinary forces and equipment have arrived, but it is impossible. The flames reach a very high height and it is impossible to intervene. At the moment the fire is in the pine trees, firefighters are positioned near the houses to separate the fire. The terrain is very rugged and the wind is strong. The lives of the firefighters are seriously at risk. At the moment, no house is at risk ," the Patos fire chief told "Report TV".
