It is not known whether, in a bargain with the drug trafficker Trifon Murataj, or under pressure from the political elite and the drug trafficking mafia, the head of SPAK did not implement the Anti-Mafia Law, by not blocking the activity and assets of the "Bana King" company, its owner and his family members...
After two months, Altin Dumani leaves office without touching any known exponents of organized crime. One of them is Trifon Murataj, owner of the company "Zico" ("Bana King"), identified by international agencies as the leader of cocaine trafficking from Ecuador to Albania.
It is not known whether we are dealing with bargaining between SPAK and Murataj or with strong political pressure on the leaders of this institution. What is clear is that Dumani, during his three years at the head of SPAK, has not brought Trifon Murataj to justice, nor has he applied the Anti-Mafia Law to him: he has not blocked the import-export activity of bananas and has not imposed any seizure on the assets of “Bana King”.
This inaction, in the face of numerous concrete evidence, cannot be justified as professional incompetence. On the contrary, it raises serious suspicions of immunity bargaining, if not personal, between Dumani and Murataj, mediated by the political "domes" and the mafia networks that protect him.
DEA and Europol reports, testimonies of dozens of those arrested
From January 2022 to June 2025, dozens of transporters, distributors and sellers arrested with cocaine in Tirana, Durrës, Fier, Vlorë, Lezha, Lushnje and Elbasan have declared to the police, the SPAK prosecutor, that the cocaine came from the “Bana King” company network. However, none of this evidence was used to arrest the boss himself.
Reports from SHISH, the Anti-Trafficking Unit and international agencies such as DEA and Europol clearly identify “Bana King” as the base of international cocaine trafficking. In only four separate cases have over 3 tons of cocaine been seized in containers coming from Ecuador at the Port of Durres, but Murataj has remained untouched.
Four flagrant cases of Murataj's inviolability
December 31, 2021 – 119 kg of cocaine were seized in the containers of “Bana King”. Murataj was declared wanted, but he moved freely and dined with police chiefs in Tirana.
July 17, 2022 – 50 crates containing approximately 1.5 tons of cocaine were stolen from a Bana King container in the presence of police. Murataj was allowed to escape.
November 4, 2022 – 35.5 kg of cocaine were seized in Durrës, in another “Bana King” container. Again, Murataj was not touched.
December 8, 2023 – A container with 1.3 tons of cocaine was allowed to leave the Port of Durres and be unloaded in Shkozet, in the presence of police. Murataj was not arrested.
In each of these cases, the reaction of the justice system has been minimal, confirming that Murataj enjoys a status of inviolability.
