Some data and signals raise strong suspicions that Fatmir Mediu is involved in a money laundering scheme through his son, daughter and wife.
According to sources within a second-tier bank, in a short period of time, large and suspicious amounts of money were transferred from an oligarch's account to the account of Mediu's wife, Zhuljeta Mediu, without a specified service or explanation. It is not known whether the money is the product of the corrupt activities of Fatmir Mediu or his son, Even Mediu, who is charged with massive money laundering through the purchase of shares in several companies and the establishment of several shell companies.
The suspicious transactions of Fatmir Mediu's wife were not declared in the annual asset declarations. These declarations reflect several joint assets and income from her salary as a sector manager at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy.
It is not known whether SPAK has launched a property investigation into Fatmir Mediu, who has made expenses that do not match the declared legal income. For example, American journalists have asked what was the source of the money of Fatmir Mediu, who paid 40 thousand USD each year to educate his daughter in the USA, when his legal income did not cover this amount and when there is no credit or loan, i.e. another form of legal income.
Even Mediu suspicious transactions and cartel companies
Fatmir Mediu's son, Even Mediu, is a 50% partner in the company "Beauty International", a 100% partner in the entity "EM Consulting's", owner of the company "Nexatel", a 3% partner in the companies "Proper Pizza Albania", "Proper Pizza Delivery", "Proper Pizza Production", as well as a 33% partner in the entity "SEG eksport".
Mediu states that his son was given shares in Proper Pizza. Meanwhile, the 300 m2 headquarters of Fatmir Mediu's son's "NEXATEL Shpk" company are located in the Bashkim Ulaj tower, where Sali Berisha also has an office. A cartel of companies such as LunTech GROUP, SEG eksport, EM Consulting's, Nexatel, Proper Pizza Albania, Proper Pizza Delivery, Proper Pizza Production, SEG eksport and several associations are suspected of being used by Even Mediu for money laundering.
Also, transactions amounting to tens of thousands of euros were made between the Austrian firm MG Finleas GmbH and Even Mediu. Money also came into Even Mediu's accounts from the company Edelweiss city Apartments GmbH.
Meanwhile, Fatmir Mediu's daughter, Semela Mediu, camouflages several stores at the Toptan center and villas in Farka with the companies M&T shpk and BEAUTY INTERNATIONAL.
The Affair with the Center for Southeast European Security
Fatmir Mediu, since October 2019, represents Albania as President and Director of the Executive Board of the Center for Southeast European Security.
Director of Project Management at the Center for Southeast European Security, Fatmir Mediu, has appointed his son, Even Mediu, for 3 years, who has also hired his friend Ejona Isufi as a "Security Specialist".
Even in this center, Fatmir Mediu does not work hard, but receives 1.1 million Euros every year; which the state gives him from Albanian taxes, for which he and his son make letters, as if they are spending it on security projects to avoid the Russian-Chinese danger in the Southeast Balkans.
According to information, this center, run by Fatmir Mediu with his son as project manager, receives 350 thousand Euros annually from the Ministry of Defense; 200 thousand Euros from the Parliament to support Euro-Atlantic projects in the region; 250 thousand Euros from the government as a partner of the Southeast European Security Center and 300 thousand Euros from the fund that Albania has for NATO, in addition to donations that Mediu does not publish.
Of these 1.1 million Euros per year, Fatmir Mediu gives himself a salary of 12 thousand Euros per month, his son 7 thousand Euros per month, his son's girlfriend 5 thousand Euros per month, and many other foreign Albanians he has included on the list; but what he has done and is doing with these funds can only be revealed by SPAK.
In fact, for every trip to meetings of the Center for Southeast European Security in the US, in EU countries and the region, Fatmir Mediu also receives a per diem from the Albanian parliament; while the CV of his son, Even Mediu, for his appointment, states: He is actively engaged in national and Balkan security issues, but also at high levels of politics.
Homeless villa
Fatmit Mediu has also been accused of wealth, especially for expenses with dubious sources, for the education of his children in the US. Mediu has benefited from a soft loan for housing, but has bought a villa in Kavaja.
In 2003, Mediu purchased a villa in Kavaja with an area of 135 m2, on a plot of 292 m2, for 65 thousand USD. To cover the cost, Mediu took out a 5 million lek (about 50 thousand USD) loan from the former Savings Bank, by government decision, for housing high-ranking officials, while he covered the difference with savings.
Mediu also owns a 191 m2 apartment in Tirana. In this apartment, he made an addition with light construction with an area of 56 m2 at a cost of 700,000 lek, which was legalized in 2021./ Prapaskena
