As it is understood, the Municipality of Korça is increasing the fees for water and sewage disposal even in villages where there is no water supply and sewerage, in order to pay off the debts that the Water Supply Company has in banks and to compensate for thefts that are declared as losses, but also to meet the salaries of the patron Nazis, employed above the number of approved organic employees...
In June 2024, the government launched media propaganda about the alleged large increase in pensions, but without declaring the percentage; while in the month of July, Sotiraq Filo of the Municipality of Korça, thought that the pensions would be equal to his salary and ordered to increase the prices of water and sewage service.
On July 22, 2022, Mayor Filo proposed to the City Council the increase in the price of water and sewerage, while after 3 days, the SP councilors who have the majority, approved Raqqa's proposal, with Decision No. 110, dated July 25, 2024.
Within the date of July 25, it has not yet been approved by the Prefect of the Korca District, which has the legal deadline of 10 days; The municipality took the decision to the Water Supply and Sewerage Company to initiate procedures, while the Water Supply Directorate, after two days, sent it to the Water Regulatory Authority for approval.
The Water Regulatory Body, with Decision No. 27, dated September 12, 2024, accepted and approved the request of the Municipality and Water Supply of Korça, for the increase in the rates of water supply and sewage disposal in the city and rural areas.
According to the decision published in the "Official Gazette", the Water Regulatory Authority has approved the request for an increase in water and sewerage rates, although the Water Supply Municipality of Korça has not submitted the following data:
- Financial statements of 2023, certified by an authorized expert; the 2024-2028 business plan of the water company; the model and reasons for the application for the new tariff level, the organizational chart and the job descriptions of the staff according to their positions; act-loan agreements between the company and lending institutions and the decision of the municipality approved by the Prefect.
