It is about the investigation launched in Cagliari against the Governor of Sardinia, Christian Solinas, on the charge of corruption and money laundering, an investigation that has revealed that the rector Arben Gjata was involved with him, as an exchange of illegal mutual benefits.

The Italian prosecutors have established that the Governor of Sardinia received the title of "Doctor Honoris Causa" from the University of Medicine in Tirana, without being present in Albania.

In exchange for this title, Rector Arben Gjata asked the Governor of Sardinia to provide financial projects from the "Eni-CBC Mediterranean Basin Program", where the General Director was his Italian friend, Roberto Raimondi, but also funds through the Ministry of Italian Foreign Office, which would be transferred to the name of Arben Tjata.

On September 12, 2022, the Governor of Sardinia received from Rector Arben Gjata, the promise of the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" and the right to be accepted as a Professor at the University of Medicine.

While in November 2022, the title was sent to Sardinia, with his friend Roberto Raimondi, who for 4 years was the Director of the School of Doctorates and a lecturer at the University of Medicine in Tirana, where every month, Rector Arben Gjata paid as many as 5 lecturers.

The investigation by the Prosecutor's Office of Cagliari started in January 2022, while in February 2023, the involvement of the rector Gjata was found, for giving the title "Doctor Honoris Causa" to the Governor of Sardinia, in exchange for material favors, allegedly on behalf of the Faculty of Medicine.

In April 2023, the Prosecutors of Cagliari came to Albania, where they informed Rector Arben Gjata about the investigation launched against him, while in September 2023 they sent him the summary charge.

These data are part of the subpoena with explanatory material, which the Italian justice sent to the rector Arben Gjata last week, to appear in the Prosecutor's Office of Cagljar, as a person under investigation for the criminal offense of granting state titles. for illegal beneficiaries in Italy.

But until now, Rector Arben Gjata has avoided appearing in Italian justice, with the claim that he is sick in bed, with long-term treatment that prevents him from traveling, by sending him electronically a personal medical file.

We specify, that the call for the rector Arben Gjata, in parallel, was sent to the Directorate of the State Police and the General Prosecutor's Office, as partner institutions in investigations between the two states.

The investigation in Italy aggravates the situation of rector Gjata, because he is under investigation by SPAK with the measure "Compulsion to appear" for corruption in the concession of sterilization of surgical equipment.

As for the awarding of fictitious titles, Rector Arben Gjata has not for the first time, since on April 6, 2018, at the University of Medicine, he gave a "Certificate of Appreciation" to the Italian Umbro Staccini, the person who received 60% of the surgical equipment concession./ pamphlet
