On March 11, 2025, 18.3 tons of chicken imported from Brazil were discovered at the Port of Durrës. Analyses by the Food and Veterinary Safety Institute (ISUV) confirmed that the meat of the entire shipment had the dangerous presence of Salmonella bacteria. But, instead of taking urgent measures, only 5.2 tons were blocked, while about 13.1 tons, infected, were released on the market without any warning.
This is a clear act of food crime, which occurred under the watchful eye of the authorities and with the announcement of an official report that warned about the salmonella content. But how such a quantity of dangerous meat, even after the warning, continued to be distributed on the market, proves that control and responsibility have failed!
At the center of this scandal is AMG FOOD (diMal shpk), a company established in December 2019 and run by Mondi Goxha. This company, which claims high standards and guaranteed quality, has violated every food safety norm by knowingly distributing contaminated meat. If 13.1 tons of this dangerous cargo has entered the market, what can we expect from other well-known products that this company distributes?
AMG FOOD is also supplying:
Frozen chicken (fillets, thighs, nuggets)
Gyros and other pork products
Frozen fish and seafood, “Siblou” brand
“Algida” brand ice cream
Frozen vegetables and stuffed pastries, “Ioniki” brand
We recall that Mondi Goxha's AMG FOOD company supplies well-known restaurants, hotels, fast-food outlets and supermarkets in the country.
But this scandal deepens when it is revealed that this company has benefited from 4 million euros of IPARD funds.
"This is one of the important projects of AZHBR regarding the processing of meat products and by-products. We have also supported this sector with a grant of about 4 million euros through this program alone, while the investment value is somewhere around 10 million euros. The main goal and final objective is to increase food safety for meat products. In this sector, appropriate intervention was needed to connect livestock with slaughterhouses and then with meat processing, so that the final consumer has the opportunity to consume standardized products with the right food quality", - emphasized the 'strawberry' of AZHBR, Krifca.
This initiative was also supported by Prime Minister Rama, who emphasized that: ''AMG Food aims not only at the domestic market, but also at expanding into the European market, thanks to increased capacities, investment in modern equipment and process standardization.''
But instead of this money going to investments in advanced technologies and rigorous controls, it was used to support a company that distributes contaminated products.
