The Israeli army announced that it will call up about 100,000 reservists as part of the military campaign against Iran, as part of the operation called "Roaring Lion", launched in coordination with the United States.
In an official statement, the army said it was increasing its readiness level on various fronts and that at least 50,000 reservists were already on duty, according to The Times of Israel. The massive mobilization signals an expansion of operations and preparation for a prolonged conflict on several fronts.
Meanwhile, clashes continue in Gaza. The enclave's Health Ministry said at least one person had been killed and seven others wounded in Israeli strikes over the past 24 hours. At least 629 Palestinians have been killed since a US-led ceasefire came into effect in October, according to health officials in Gaza. The death toll in the territory since the war began in October 2023 has passed 70,000.
In Israel, police said 11 people were still missing after a rocket attack in Beit Shemesh, near West Jerusalem. Nine people have been confirmed dead and 51 others injured in the attack. Search and rescue teams are continuing operations in the area to find possible survivors.
