"Will you stop killing civilians?"/ Who is Rachel Scott, the

At the summit in Anchorage, Alaska, she asked Vladimir Putin: “Will you stop killing civilians?” The Russian president, standing next to Trump, touched his ear, pretending not to hear. And so, the question from Rachel Scott, born in 1993, a senior political correspondent for ABC and host of a news segment on Disney+, also fell through, along with two others: “President Putin, will you accept a ceasefire?” and “Mr. Putin, have you underestimated Ukraine?”, all of which went unanswered.

But it doesn't end there. Present inside the summit hall where the two leaders were sitting, she tries again: "Mr. Putin, will you pledge not to kill civilians again?" she asks, along with questions from other colleagues. But even then, neither the Russian nor the American leader responds.

This is not the first time a question from Rachel Scott has caused controversy. The most recent was in May. During a press conference with US President Donald Trump, she asked him if he thought it was appropriate to accept the "gift" of a presidential plane from Qatar. Trump replied: "I think it was a very generous gesture and I really appreciated it. I would never turn down an offer like that."

But during the August 2024 election campaign, Scott had angered Trump. “She was very rude,” he said. Scott had asked the divisive question at an already tense meeting with the National Association of Colored Journalists. Scott, who had hosted ABC’s live coverage of Biden’s withdrawal from the presidential race a few days earlier, brought up some of Trump’s past statements about black leaders, including the hoax he spread about former President Barack Obama’s birthplace.

"Why would black voters, who you're asking to vote for you, believe you when you use language like that?" Scott asked. Trump immediately lashed out. "I don't think I've ever been asked a question in such a horrible way. You don't even say good morning, how are you? Do you work for ABC? Because I think they're a fake news network." The video, like the one in Anchorage on Friday, went viral.
