Analyst Andi Bushati spoke about the possibility of Edi Rama's overthrow, as happened with Viktor Orban in Hungary. Bushati said that in Albania there are elements that are more problematic than in Hungary.
According to him, the connections between crime and the state are a factor that made it impossible for Rama to be removed through elections. Bushati emphasized that this connection did not exist in Orban's government.
"Authoritarian regimes based on the party state are almost impossible to defeat by vote. In this regard, Hungary was an exception. Not only did Orban lose by a landslide, but he accepted defeat as a great democrat. This begs the question, can such regimes fall by vote? Can we take the Hungarian example to give us hope for Albania? I have thought a lot about this. But there are some things that differ from Orban's regime to Rama's.
Orban established a regime that they called illiberal democracy, meaning he wins by vote but overthrows other powers. But, even Orban's biggest critics, no one has accused him of linking politics with crime. With the economic crime of the oligarchs, but not with organized crime. The difference is huge when we compare it with the power in Albania, which has all of Orban's, party-state, media, oligarchs, judiciary, but there is a plus factor, alliance with crime, especially in elections.
