Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has finally confirmed that he has agreed to a 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon, in an effort to advance a peace deal between the two countries.
" We have the opportunity to make a historic agreement with Lebanon, in order to try to move forward with the agreement discussed during diplomatic talks in Washington on Tuesday ," Netanyahu said.
The Israeli leader asserted that his main demand is for Hezbollah to disband. But, more importantly, he said he would not agree to Lebanon's demand to withdraw from all Lebanese territory.
"We are staying in Lebanon in an expanded security zone because of the risk of an invasion and to prevent fire into Israel ," Netanyahu said.
