Flight cancellations and long delays due to flooding on the runway at Frankfurt airport left hundreds of travelers stranded at one of Germany's biggest airports.
Due to the torrential rains, the waters flooded the runway as a result of which the passengers could not get off the plane that had already landed.
Around 70 flights were canceled in total at Frankfurt airport due to heavy rain and several lightning strikes in central Germany on Wednesday.
Videos from Frankfurt airport circulating on social media show planes in water. The German weather service (DÜD) had issued a storm warning Wednesday night for the entire state of Hessen.
Had quite a few DM's from people wondering why flights were diverting away from Frankfurt....here's your answer ????????
