Iran's Ayatollah Khamenei: If Israel violates ceasefire, Tel Aviv will

The interim leader of Friday prayers in Tehran, Ayatollah Ahmad Khatami, launched a scathing attack on Israel, declaring that "if the Zionist regime violates the ceasefire, Tel Aviv will become a ghost town." As reported by the Iranian Mehr news agency, Khatami declared during his Friday sermon that Israel "openly speaks of destroying Iran because it is in a life-or-death situation, but we remain steadfast like a cypress tree."

The cleric stressed that "demonstrations around the world show growing hatred of Israel, while Iran's power has increased." To support this statement, he cited the fact that for the first time since World War II, a country has openly attacked a US military base, namely al-Udeid in Qatar.

"Iran hit the base with force and showed the world its power," he said.

Khatami then warned Muslim countries, stating that if Israel were to become stronger, it would "cause to them what it did to Syria."

"Iran was not the architect of the war, but it defended itself with determination," he declared in another excerpt. The ayatollah also argued that the United States intervened directly in the conflict to save Israel, which, he said, explains why the slogan "death to the United States" continues to resonate among the Iranian population.

Khatami finally condemned Washington's "historic behavior," stating that the US has directly or indirectly attacked 25 countries in recent decades and that its history represents "a black record of crimes."
