Explosions and the activation of air defense systems were heard in Jerusalem in the early hours of the morning, following a new wave of missile and drone attacks launched by Iran. According to Israeli authorities, some of these aircraft were intercepted by air defenses over the city.
Israeli emergency services said there were no reports of casualties so far. There is currently no publicly confirmed figure for the exact number of drones or missiles downed in the reported attack on Jerusalem.
The Israeli military had issued three airstrike alerts in the two hours leading up to the explosions after new missile launches from Iranian territory were identified.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military claims that it has destroyed around 300 rocket launchers in Iran since the start of the clash on Saturday.
Army spokesman Nadav Shoshani said that operations against rocket launchers and missile depots have reduced the intensity of the attacks. According to him, Iran is now launching missiles one by one at Israel, while previously the attacks were carried out in bursts at regular intervals.
