The Pentagon and several Gulf states are considering purchasing Ukrainian-developed anti-aircraft drones to defend against Iranian Shahed drones.
According to the Financial Times, Ukraine has developed cheap, mass-produced anti-aircraft drones that cost just a few thousand dollars each. This makes them much more economical than the Patriot missiles, which cost about $13.5 million each and are currently used to shoot down Shahed drones.
Interest in this technology is also linked to concerns that Iran may have tens of thousands of Shahed drones, which is pushing countries to seek cheaper and more sustainable ways of air defense.
Ukrainian technology has become particularly sought after due to the experience gained during the war with Russia, where Ukraine has repeatedly faced massive drone attacks.
