The recent incidents have further strained already tense relations between Russia and NATO countries, many of which have supported Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022.

Moscow threatens Europe: If NATO shoots down planes, war will begin!

Recent drone incidents in western Denmark, involving airports and military bases in Jutland, have shocked the country and raised major concerns about national security.

Yesterday, four Russian fighter jets were spotted by the United States near Alaska, while NATO fighters were scrambled from Lithuania in response to five Russian fighter jets flying near Latvian airspace.

Sweden also received several reports last night of drones flying over the islands of Styrkoe and Tjurkoe, in the Karlskrona archipelago in southern Sweden.

But Moscow continues its provocations, even threatening Europe with war.

"If NATO shoots down Russian fighter jets, it's war," Putin's ambassador to France, Alexey Meshkov, warned.

Meshkov denied the allegations, echoing previous statements from the Kremlin. Moscow has also denied any connection to suspicious drone sightings in Denmark and Norway earlier this week.

Poland's air defenses also shot down at least three Russian drones in its airspace on September 10, while another drone was recorded flying over Romania for almost an hour a few days later. On September 19, Estonia said three Russian MiG-31 fighter jets violated its airspace for 12 minutes.

The recent incidents have further strained already tense relations between Russia and NATO countries, many of which have supported Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion in 2022.

Recent months have seen Western leaders warn of a possible open conflict with Russia in the coming years after the war in Ukraine ends.

Secret meeting between European and Russian diplomats: We will shoot down your planes

The Kremlin has received a warning from NATO that it is ready to respond with full force to any further violations of its airspace, including the shooting down of Russian aircraft. According to Bloomberg, during a tense meeting in Moscow, the British, French and Germans expressed serious concerns about the recent violation of Estonian airspace by three MiG-31 fighter jets.

Diplomats concluded that the violation was a deliberate act ordered by the Russian military leadership. The Russian side denied any violation of Estonian airspace, stating that it had no intention of provoking or testing NATO's response. Regarding the drone incident in Poland, Moscow attributed the blame to a "technical error".

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russian military flights are in compliance with international rules.

But the latest incidents have raised concerns among NATO's eastern allies, as they come at a time when Vladimir Putin is stepping up attacks on Ukraine's political infrastructure and US support for Kiev is showing signs of weakening.

US President Donald Trump has called on Ukraine to reclaim all territory seized by Russia, with the support of the European Union, and has said the US role will be limited to selling weapons to the front.

The meeting in Moscow offers a glimpse of the growing tension and diplomatic conflict that is unfolding behind the scenes, Bloomberg reports.

During the talks, a Russian diplomat claimed that the violations were retaliation for Ukrainian attacks in Crimea, accusing NATO of supporting these operations.

As a result, Moscow now considers itself in conflict with European countries. European officials noted that the Russian delegation was keeping extensive notes of their statements, which indicates a possible order to immediately inform the leadership in the Kremlin about NATO's position. A

A German government spokesman confirmed that a meeting had taken place and that the ambassadors clearly stated that the violations must stop.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz said on Thursday that he is in coordination with Paris, London and Warsaw and supports "all necessary measures."

NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte also said he "fully agrees with President Trump" that NATO could shoot down Russian fighters invading the territory of allied countries, adding, however, "if necessary." @Pamphlet
