The Italian government is alarmed, Giorga Meloni's daughter is threatened

The daughter of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has received a death threat via a message on social media.

An Instagram user, who claims to be an employee of the Ministry of Education and Merit (MIM), wrote a message wishing Meloni's little daughter "the same fate as Martina Carbonaro", a girl from Afragola who passed away after being killed by her 18-year-old ex-boyfriend.

This message was shared and denounced by the Fratelli d'Italia party, which described the post as "terrifying and unacceptable."

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni reacted sharply, saying that this shows a dark ideological hatred that has crossed all boundaries.

She added: "It's no longer just a political clash. It's a climate of violence that also targets children to hit their parents. Politics must come together to stop this."

Education Minister Giuseppe Valditara has ordered checks to discover the identity of the author of the post and stressed that measures will be taken. "Zero tolerance for violence," he said.

Arianna Meloni, the Prime Minister's sister and head of the Fratelli d'Italia secretariat, reacted strongly on social media: "How far should we go? The sentence must be strong and unanimous. To my sister Giorgia and my niece, my warmest hug."

There were also harsh reactions from other political figures: Galeazzo Bignami, president of the FdI deputies, called for a "harsh response", the President of the Senate, Ignazio La Russa, stressed that "the expression of hatred towards a child offends conscience"; the Minister of Culture, Alessandro Giuli, called for "vigilance and censorship from all institutions".

Simona Malpezzi, a senator for the Democratic Party, said: “ It is unbelievable that someone would harass a child to politically attack her mother.” While Pierferdinando Casini added: “Solidarity for the Prime Minister’s daughter should not be news – it should be a human norm.”
