United States President Donald Trump has hailed the two-week ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran as an important development for global peace, describing it as a "great day for world peace."
In a reaction on the Truth Social platform, Trump stated that the agreement could mark the beginning of a new period of stability in the Middle East.
He stressed that the United States will contribute to increasing traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, a key hub for international energy trade, considering this as a step with an impact on the global economy and security.
"A great day for world peace! Iran wants this to happen... The United States will help increase traffic in the Strait of Hormuz. There will be a lot of positive action and a lot of money," Trump wrote, adding that Iran could begin a reconstruction process.
The US president expressed optimism about the functioning of the agreement, stressing that the US will closely monitor developments to ensure its implementation. Trump described this moment as the beginning of a "Golden Age of the Middle East."
Meanwhile, in a statement to AFP, Trump said that China may have played a role in encouraging Iran to enter negotiations. According to him, Beijing's influence may have been a factor in Tehran's decision to accept the ceasefire agreement.
"That's what I mean," Trump declared, implying that China's influence was important in reaching the agreement between Washington and Tehran.
