A well-known American businessman was killed in downtown Manhattan today.
Brian Thompson, CEO of UnitedHealthcare, was on his way to the New York Hilton hotel in midtown Manhattan, dressed in a suit and tie, to attend a conference. A gunman, who investigators say had been waiting hours before Thompson arrived, opened fire from a few feet away, shooting him several times in the back, leaving him dead on the spot.
According to the New York Times, the gunman apparently knew which door Thompson would enter through.
Police said they are offering $10,000 to anyone with information about who killed Thompson, who fled the scene on a bicycle.
