Azerbaijan's president, Ilham Aliyev, accused France of creating the conditions for a new war in the South Caucasus by supplying arms to Armenia.
Last month, France won new contracts to supply military equipment to Armenia, Reuters reports.
"France destabilizes not only the states it had colonies in the past and has now, but also our region, the South Caucasus, by supporting separatist tendencies and separatists," Aliyev said during a conference on decolonization in Baku.
"By arming Armenia, it implements military policies, encourages revanchist forces in Armenia and prepares the ground for starting new wars in our region," the Azerbaijani president added.
There is still no reaction from Paris for these statements.
