Biden rejects Moscow's claims: the US and Western allies have nothing to do with Wagner's rebellion

President Joe Biden said the US and its Western allies had "nothing to do" with Saturday's events in Russia, where Wagner's boss, Yevgeny Prigozhin, allegedly instigated an armed rebellion against the Kremlin.

Biden said he instructed the national security team to closely monitor Saturday's events in Russia and report to him "hour by hour" as well as prepare for a variety of scenarios.

He said he also spoke with key US allies over the weekend to make sure they were all on the same page to avoid misunderstandings.

" It is critical that we are coordinated in our response and coordinated in what we should anticipate. We had to make sure we didn't give Putin any excuse to blame the West or NATO for this. We made it clear that we were not involved. We had nothing to do with it. This was part of a war within the Russian system ," Biden said.
