The US State Department has published some data on the devastating damage produced by the two-year war in Ukraine.
7.1 million Ukrainians, says DASH, are plunged into total poverty. Russian aggression has not spared the schools either.
Two years have passed since the first Russian attack on Ukraine, according to DASH, 3,790 schools have been destroyed. The barbarity of Russian air and ground attacks has destroyed 1.5 million homes. The human toll of this war is shocking. More than 70,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed.
Data up to December 2023 show that 315,000 Russian soldiers have been killed on the battlefield. During the two years of war, more than 10,582 civilians lost their lives, including 587 children, while 20,000 people were injured.
About 17.3 million Ukrainian war emigrants have so far passed through Ukraine's neighboring countries, such as Poland, Hungary and Romania.
From January 2023 to January 15, 2024, EU institutions have provided 85 billion euros in humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine. Followed by the USA with aid worth approximately 69 billion euros, of which 35 billion is military aid. So far, Great Britain has given 12 billion euros, of which 7.1 billion are weapons.
Analysts of military affairs believe that Russia has so far spent 167 billion euros on military operations in Ukraine.
It is estimated that the cost of rebuilding Ukraine when the war is over will be 384 billion euros, of which 120 billion euros will be for the construction of destroyed houses.
