
"Western countries must be bolder in seizing frozen Russian assets after the start of the Russian occupation of Ukraine in 2022 ," British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said.
In an article in the Sunday Times newspaper, the British Prime Minister states that Ukraine needs more long-range weapons, drones, ammunition, and other aid.
He calls on the West to seize Russian munitions and help Ukraine.
Last month, British investment minister Dominic Johnson discussed the issue with US Treasury Secretary Wally Antegemo, as he stressed that everything must be done in accordance with international law.
In 2022, the European Union, the US, Japan and Canada froze assets of the Russian central bank worth about 300 billion dollars.
The G7 is considering seizing Russian assets to make Moscow pay for the damage it has caused with its military occupation of Ukraine.
The British prime minister also urged the US to continue providing financial and military support to Ukraine.
"We should never underestimate what America has done for Ukraine and for Euro-Atlantic security. I call on them to continue their support and I'm sure they will do it", emphasizes Sunak.
