The White House is reassessing its strategy for reaching a ceasefire agreement, according to unnamed US officials cited by the Axios newspaper.
" It is a difficult period. People in the White House are sad, upset and frustrated. We are still working, but we will not present anything right away. We are in a difficult place ," a US official was quoted as saying to Axios.
The unnamed US officials told Axios that top advisers to US President Joe Biden have become skeptical of a deal being reached anytime soon.
The recent killings of six Israeli prisoners, Hamas's demand to release 100 more Palestinian prisoners and Israel's demand to maintain full Israeli military control along the Philadelphia Corridor are among the toughest positions, officials said.
