US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has spoken again from Geneva following his initial statement at the end of the first meeting with the Ukrainian delegation.
Speaking to the media, Teska said that both sides have made great progress on the peace plan. Although he did not provide many specific details, Rubio's rhetoric remains very positive.
"I feel very optimistic that we can achieve something here, because we have made tremendous progress. I don't want to declare victory or completion here. There is still work to be done, but today at this time we are much further ahead than we were when we started this morning and where we were probably a week ago ," he said.
Rubio said he could not commit to a deadline set by Donald Trump for reaching a deal, but stressed that he hopes a deal can be reached “soon.” Despite questions from reporters, Rubio refuses to go into details of the plan, saying it is a work in progress.
"We just need more time than we have today. I honestly believe we will get it done ," Rubio said.
