"The Beast", all the secrets of Donald Trump's presidential

Sometimes things turn around: this is the case of Donald Trump arriving for the second time in the White House, but also the case of the presidential car "The Beast". Left in the garage for four years, it reappeared in the Washington parade on inauguration day, when Trump left the White House together with Joe Biden, towards the Capitol Rotunda.

It is what is called the "Cadillac One", along the lines of Air Force One and Marine One. It was first seen on September 24, 2018, on the occasion of a visit to the UN, in New York. It is manufactured by Cadillac with bodywork taking stylistic features of the Escalade, especially at the front, but rests on a chassis derived from that of Chevrolet pick-ups, with strictly secret specifications. But it is certain that it is able to withstand ground bombs. Secrecy has prevented us from knowing for sure whether it is the original version or an updated version, but the Cadillac One remains.

V8, but which one?

There continue to be mysteries about the engine, which according to experts could be an 8.1-liter Vortec V8 gasoline or a 6.6-liter Duramax V8 turbodiesel. On the other hand, it is known that the Beast relies on specific tires, with Kevlar reinforcements, derived from those reserved for medium-heavy trucks to be able to carry an estimated weight of between 7 and 9 tons. Also for this reason, the estimated top speed should not exceed 100 km/h but on the other hand, even with a flat tire, the Beast does not stop. As in previous models, the limousine is equipped with bulletproof glass (polycarbonate, 15 cm thick), doors similar to those of a Boeing 757 and electrified handles.

Encrypted systems

There are oxygen tanks to allow normal breathing in order to protect the president from a chemical attack. So, the passenger compartment is completely insulated from the outside, made using steel, aluminum, titanium and ceramics: in simulations, it has been seen to be able to withstand an 8-inch cannon. On board, there is also a refrigerator with blood packages compatible with Donald Trump's blood and a wide range of medical supplies designed to save the president. To allow the President's communications, there are encrypted communication systems on board connected to all the centers of American power, with two lines always open: the vice president and the Pentagon.

Driving tests (special)

Like previous presidential cars, the current one must also have night vision goggles, tear gas canisters and smoke grenades to camouflage the vehicle in case of an attack. Who drives the Beast? Of course, an agent of the United States Secret Service - the agency that deals exclusively with the protection of the president and his family - who is ready to react to any eventuality (there is a machine gun next to his seat) and above all must pass a series of very difficult tests. Among them, the most complicated is said to be a full-speed U-turn: not easy, considering that the Cadillac One weighs almost as much as three Hummers combined. You also have to be careful not to damage a car that would cost no less than a million and a half dollars.
