Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said that the implementation of the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas has been delayed because Hamas has not fulfilled its obligation to send Israel a list of hostages to be released on the first day.
As the planned start time of the ceasefire at 6:30 a.m. passed, Israeli tanks continued to bombard areas in Gaza.
And in a brief televised address, Hagar said the government had ordered the army to delay implementation and that it retained the freedom to continue attacks on the Gaza Strip as long as the ceasefire had not taken effect.
Hagar said the army was fully prepared to implement the ceasefire, but was also ready to act if Hamas violated the terms of the agreement.
