Peace talks between the United States and Iran could resume soon, three Pakistani sources told Reuters, according to Sky News Arabia.
An Iranian delegation led by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has left for Pakistan to discuss a proposal to restart talks with the United States. Araghchi will hold bilateral talks during his brief visit to Pakistan and discuss his position on proposed talks with the United States over the Iran-Iran war, which will then be presented to Washington, the sources said. At least that's according to Reuters, citing two Pakistani sources.
Pakistan's Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir has presented Iran with new proposals for talks with the United States, which Tehran is considering, the Islamic Republic's ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, said during consultations held in Moscow with member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
"In recent days, after the arrival in Tehran of the Pakistani Army Commander as a mediator, new proposals were presented, which we are currently considering and exchanging communiqués," Jalali said, quoted by the Russian news agency Tass.
On April 16, the Chief of the Armed Forces of Pakistan visited Tehran, where he met with the military and political leaders of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
On the other hand, the US sent 3 aircraft carriers to the Middle East.
"For the first time in decades, three aircraft carriers are operating simultaneously in the Middle East," the US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced. In a post on X, it specified that with the USS Abraham Lincoln, USS Gerald R. Ford and USS George H.W. Bush, there are "over 200 aircraft and 15,000" units.
US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth called the Iran war a "gift to the world" while speaking to reporters at the Pentagon. He added that the US naval blockade of Iranian ships will continue "as long as necessary" to carry out the United States' "bold and dangerous" mission to end the threat Iran poses to global security.
