Damage to Gaza hospitals, WHO raises alarm: Diseases could kill more people than

The World Health Organization (WHO) has raised the alarm, saying that more people could die from disease than from bombing in Gaza if its health system is not repaired.

More than 15,000 people have been killed by Israel's bombing, according to the Hamas-run Gaza health authorities.

Margaret Harris, of the WHO, raised concerns about an increase in infectious disease outbreaks, saying there were no medicines, vaccines, safe water or food.

" We saw a very high number of cases of diarrhea in babies ," she said.

She added that the collapse of al Shifa hospital in northern Gaza was a "tragedy". James Elder, of the UN Children's Agency in Gaza, said hospitals in Gaza were full of children.

He described seeing a child with part of his missing leg lying on the hospital floor for several hours without receiving treatment due to a lack of medical staff.
