Qatar has accused Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of trying to prolong the war. The negotiation model for a cease-fire agreement proposed by Israel was not very promising, according to Qatari foreign ministry spokesman Majed al Ansari.
Qatar is among several countries that have participated in mediation talks between Hamas and Israel, along with Egypt, the US and others.
"The recent statements of the Israeli prime minister in which he calls on Qatar to pressure Hamas to release the hostages are nothing but a new attempt by him to delay and prolong the war for reasons that have become clear to everyone" , said Al Ansari.
While he did not specify exactly what statements he was referring to. Al Ansari's comments come after the Israeli prime minister said pressure must be put on Qatar to get Hamas to release the hostages.
" Qatar can put pressure on Hamas like nobody else. They wait on the leaders of Hamas. Hamas is financially dependent on them. The pressure is not just on Hamas itself, but on those who can put pressure on Hamas, starting with Qatar ," Netanyahu said in some Israeli media.
Meanwhile, on the other hand, Israel has expressed its determination to continue its offensive in the Rafah area despite international opposition.
