" My brave compatriots need your urgent help ," declared Prince Reza Pahlavi, while warning that the Iranian regime is "on the verge of collapse" and is acting "like a wounded animal fighting to hold on to power."
In a strong public statement, the last son of the deposed Shah of Iran confirmed that he will return to the country and is ready to take the helm of a new government to lead the democratic transition.
" Today, as my compatriots look to me for leadership, I reaffirm my eternal commitment - I will lead this movement to reclaim our country from an anti-Iranian force that has invaded it and is killing our children ," he said.
"I will return to Iran. I am in a unique position to ensure a sustainable transition. This is not just my conviction – it is a verdict being clearly declared by the people themselves, in the face of bullets."
Pahlavi stated that he has a comprehensive plan for an orderly transition in hand, which is ready to be implemented immediately. He also called on the international community to take six concrete steps to support the protesters in Iran, although the details of these steps were not made public in the statement.
