US special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff has made public Washington's demands to Tehran for a diplomatic solution to the situation.
He listed four main issues, which, according to him, must be addressed in order for the US and Iran to return to the negotiating table.
" I hope there is a diplomatic solution. I really hope so. There are four issues: nuclear enrichment, missiles, they need to reduce their inventory. The current material they have, which is approximately 2,000 kilograms, which is somewhere between 3.67% and 60% enriched, and of course, the representatives. If they want to go back to the League of Nations, we can solve these four problems diplomatically, and then that would be a great solution. And I think the alternative is bad ," he said, speaking at a conference organized by the nonprofit Israel-American Council in Florida.
The unrest in Iran began on December 29 after street protests sparked by a sharp drop in the Iranian rial exchange rate, which spread to most major cities.
Iranian authorities blamed Israel and the United States for orchestrating the unrest. US President Donald Trump previously said he was seriously considering using force against Tehran.
