Israel has charged two members of the air force with allegedly working for Iranian intelligence, the Israeli daily Haaretz reported.
The Israeli military, along with Israel's domestic intelligence service, Shin Bet, and police, said the two technicians face serious security criminal offenses, including aiding the enemy and transferring sensitive information.
One soldier has been charged with direct contact with a foreign agent, while the other is accused of assisting in such contact, according to the joint statement cited by Haaretz.
Authorities said the pair told investigators they initially cut off ties with the individuals they had contacted after refusing to perform weapons-related tasks. However, officials allege they later attempted to reestablish contact after communications were cut off by the Iranians.
According to the Israeli defense ministry, one of the soldiers “passed military training materials related to fighter jet systems, along with film footage of installations and areas at a military base, to an Iranian agent.”
