Pentagon warns of escalation of war with Iran...
The United States warned of a major escalation of military operations against Iran, while the Pentagon stated that today is expected to be the heaviest day of bombing since the beginning of the war.
During a press conference at the Pentagon, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the new wave of attacks would be more intense than any previous operation during the conflict.
" Today will once again be our most intense day of strikes inside Iran — more fighter jets, more bombers and more strikes ," Hegseth told reporters.
He added that the war has now entered its second week and that the Iranian leadership is under great pressure. According to him, the United States will not stop until it achieves its military objectives.
" We will not retreat until the enemy is completely and decisively defeated. We will end this war on our own time and terms ," Hegseth said.
At the same conference, the chairman of the US Army Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Dan Caine, announced that more than 5,000 military targets in Iran have been hit since the start of operations.
According to him, the operations are aimed at destroying Iran's missile and drone capabilities, striking the Iranian naval fleet and damaging the country's military industrial base.
Caine also said that US forces have used dozens of 2,000-pound penetrating bombs to strike missile bases located deep underground.
According to the Pentagon, the operations have significantly reduced Iran's offensive capabilities. US authorities report a sharp decline in missile and drone attacks by Tehran in recent days.
Hegseth also warned that Iran is "isolated" and that its leadership is facing an increasingly difficult situation on the battlefield.
" Iran stands alone and is losing badly ," he declared.
The conflict between the US, Israel and Iran has entered a critical phase, as the international community is expressing concern about the further escalation of the war and the consequences for the stability of the region and global energy markets.
At the same time, the US administration has left open the possibility of negotiations with Iran, but has emphasized that any diplomatic process will depend on the conditions that Tehran will accept.
