Ali Larijani: Hormuz can be a "strait of peace" or "suffering" for warmongers
Ali Larijani, one of Iran's top security officials, warned that the Strait of Hormuz could become a zone of stability or a source of crisis, depending on developments in the region. His message was interpreted as a signal directed at the United States and Israel.
In a statement published in six languages, Larijani wrote: “The Strait of Hormuz will either be a strait of peace and prosperity for all, or it will be a strait of loss and suffering for the warmongers.”
The statement comes as energy markets are reacting to rising tensions in the Middle East, with analysts warning that a potential escalation of the conflict with Iran could disrupt global oil supplies.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the most important sea routes for energy transport. About a fifth of the world's oil supply passes through the strait, making it a critical point for global energy trade.
According to market analysts, any threat to the security of this sea route could immediately affect international oil prices and the stability of energy supplies.
