A new development has emerged in the investigation into the murder of 29-year-old Pamela Genini in Milan, after her grave was desecrated and her skull was missing from the body.
Cemetery workers discovered on Monday, March 30, that the coffin had been forced open and part of the body had been taken. Authorities suspect the involvement of three to four people, while the motive has not been determined.
The prosecution has launched an investigation into the desecration of a body and the theft of a body part. These crimes are punishable by up to seven years in prison under Italian law.
The event brings back into focus the murder that occurred in October 2025. The victim was found dead on the balcony of her apartment, with more than 20 stab wounds. The main suspect is her ex-partner, 52-year-old Gianluca Soncin.
Investigators have gathered evidence that shows he stalked her and pressured her to get back together. They believe he entered the apartment using the keys he still had.
Before the attack, the 29-year-old had expressed fear of him in communication with a friend. Witnesses in the area reported that she called for help at the moment of the attack.
After the incident, the suspect attempted to stab himself in the neck, but survived. He is in custody and faces charges of murder and stalking, while the investigation into the desecration of the grave continues.
