In an atmosphere of royal splendor and strong political symbolism, the dinner hosted by King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark took place at Amalienborg Palace in Copenhagen, in honor of 50 heads of state and government of the EU and the European Political Community.
European leaders are in the Danish capital for the 7th Summit of the European Political Community, which focuses on strengthening Ukraine, European security and Europe's role in a constantly changing geopolitical environment.
High profile appearances
The dinner was attended by Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Antonio Costa, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte, European Parliament President Roberta Metsola, Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama and many other leaders, as well as Prince Albert of Monaco.
According to the magazine Billed-Bladet, the evening was described as a “working dinner,” with a professional dress code. King Frederik appeared in a suit instead of military uniform, while Queen Mary chose an elegant cream-colored suit with a black jacket.
Most female leaders followed the same style, with Ursula von der Leyen and Giorgia Meloni choosing shades of beige.
The king's message
In his speech, Frederick sent a message of unity and responsibility: "As Europeans, we hold a part of each other's lives in each other's hands. And we owe it to our past, present and future to take this responsibility carefully. The world is changing, Europe's security and values are under pressure. None of us can face these challenges alone."

The meal included Greenland cod with Kattegat seaweed, lobster emulsion and chicken skin, marshmallows from the west coast of Denmark with chanterelle mushrooms, slow-cooked lamb croquettes with crispy cheese and pumpkin puree, while for dessert, guests enjoyed a chocolate and walnut composition with yogurt ganache, apple compote and caramelized sea whey.
