Rangers, Navy SEALs, the Night Stalkers helicopter teams that "captured" Maduro, and the 82nd Airborne Brigade rush to the Persian Gulf.
The airlift that has taken place over the Eastern Mediterranean and Jordan in recent days shows a clear intensification of US military activity in the region. Dozens of C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft are making continuous flights, transporting advanced US military units to bases near the Persian Gulf.
According to flight tracking data published by @TheIntelFrog and compiled by OpenSource Report, at least 35 such flights have been recorded since March 12, with 11 more in the pipeline. Top destinations include Ovda Air Base in Israel with 17 flights, King Faisal Air Base in Jordan with 13, and King Hussein International Airport with 4 flights.
According to reports in The Jerusalem Post, the deployment includes about 2,500 Marines, 2,000 other ground troops, 3,000 paratroopers and three amphibious ships. Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal reported that the naval forces are expected to arrive in the coming days, with other units to follow in the coming weeks. Air units remain on high alert.
The forces involved represent a significant portion of the most specialized U.S. units. They include the 82nd Airborne Division from Fort Bragg, which is considered the leading global rapid reaction force. According to The New York Times, the use of the division's rapid reaction force, about 3,000 paratroopers who can be deployed within 18 hours anywhere in the world, is being considered. The unit's training activities have been suspended to maintain readiness, while the aviation brigade has been integrated into the CENTCOM command for air support.
Four flights were launched from Fort Campbell, belonging to the 160th SOAR, known as the “Night Stalkers,” a special forces airborne operations unit. The unit is trained to infiltrate and extract troops in hostile territory using modified Black Hawk and Chinook helicopters.
Also, seven flights from JB Lewis-McChord are associated with the 75th Ranger Regiment, a force specializing in rapid assault operations and the capture of strategic targets, including airports and high-value targets. Another four flights from Naval Station Oceana are associated with Navy SEALs, which operate in maritime environments, including shore landings and underwater operations.
Increased activity has also been seen at Fort Bragg, which is home to high-level units such as Delta Force and Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC). At the same time, the 2nd Brigade of the 10th Mountain Division, with about 1,900 troops, is already in the region as part of Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq and Syria.
The military presence is also reinforced by Navy expeditionary units, including the 31st MEU with the USS Tripoli and the 11th MEU with the USS Boxer, which provide amphibious capabilities and air support with attack helicopters.
The structure of this force suggests a coordinated operational organization: SEAL units can secure initial objectives from the sea, the 160th SOAR can transport special operations units for rapid intervention, while the 82nd Airborne Division can establish territorial control.
According to open source analysis, one of the strategically important targets could be the Kharg Island in the Persian Gulf, which processes about 90% of Iran's oil exports. However, there is no official confirmation of any concrete operation in this regard.
So far, US authorities have not announced a final decision on military intervention, while current developments are interpreted as increased readiness and a demonstration of military capabilities in the region./ Adapted from "Pamphlet", by "Newsbomb"
