Today, Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan has stated from Ankara that if necessary, he can take a different path than that of the European Union, when he was asked about the recent approval of the European Parliament's report on Turkey.
In a statement to the media before leaving for the USA, he said that the European Union was making moves to distance itself from Turkey.
" If you want to know my assessment clearly, the European Union is trying to break away from Turkey. In this period when the European Union is leaving Turkey, we will make our assessment regarding these developments and after these assessments we can part with the European Union, if necessary", was his decision .
Meanwhile, referring to Sweden's accession to NATO, he said that Sweden must fulfill its duty.
"No matter what changes she makes in the constitution or the law, if she encourages terrorists to demonstrate, she is failing in her duty. Then the promises made to us are not kept," he said.
