Foreign ministers from Britain, France and Germany, and the EU's foreign policy chief, will sit down with their Iranian counterpart today in Switzerland to discuss the terms of a ceasefire with Israel.
On the eve of the meeting, French President Emmanuel Macron has revealed new details about the diplomatic proposal that Europe is expected to present to Iran during talks in Geneva to end the conflict with Israel.
Speaking from Le Bourget, near Paris, Macron said France and European allies have drawn up a four-point plan aimed at reducing tensions and restarting a diplomatic process with Tehran.
-Point one: Resumption of the work of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Iran in order to achieve the goal of “zero enrichment” of uranium.
-Point two: Supervision of Iran’s ballistic missile activities.
-Point three: Stopping Iranian financing of proxy militant groups in the Middle East region.
-Point four: Release of so-called “hostages” by Iran, referring to foreign nationals held in Iranian prisons.
"Iran must show that it is willing to join the negotiating platform that we are putting on the table, " Macron told reporters.
