US President Joe Biden held an emergency briefing Thursday night to respond to the special counsel's report, which described the president as "a well-meaning old man with a failing memory."
But instead of placating Democrats at the press conference, Biden made another mistake, referring to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi as "the president of Mexico" when he spoke about diplomatic developments in the Gaza war.
The special counsel's report and press conference revived the party's concerns about Biden's age and brought into question whether or not he should run again.
The 81-year-old president, the oldest in US history, insisted on Thursday that his memory is working fine. But in his report, special counsel Robert Herr, who investigated Biden's handling of classified documents, summed up the president's mental state as incompetent.
Trump's team has already said it intends to use Biden's sarcasm and sometimes volatility to portray him as a victim of senile dementia.
