Brigitte Bardot, the icon of French film, passed away at the age of 91, while still fighting for animal welfare.
The sad news was announced by the Brigitte Bardot Foundation for the Welfare and Protection of Animals on December 28, just one day after a recent Instagram post in which the actress appealed for the adoption of a dog named Urphé, who suffered from generalized arthritis.
In the video released by the foundation, Bardot was seen petting the dog, saying that he was a sweet, loving dog, and very devoted to people.
“He needs to experience life, as he has only known shelter,” Bardot said. Also, two days ago, she posted a photo of herself kissing another dog as part of her Christmas greetings.
Bardot, who founded her foundation in 1986, was a strong advocate for animal rights, calling on the public to help protect animals and fight against cruelty to them.
Her activism began in the 1960s, and she has traveled as far as the Arctic to protect seals.
A statement released by the foundation after her death said: "Bardot sacrificed everything to create a better world for animals. Her legacy will live on through the actions and campaigns we continue to pursue."
Brigitte Bardot will always be remembered as a symbol of passion and dedication to animal rights.
