FBI raises alarm: Take action! The threat from Iranian cyberattacks is not over

The ceasefire between Israel and Iran, brokered by the US, may have ended the bombing between the two countries, but not the threat of cyberattacks from the Islamic Republic.

US intelligence experts are sounding the alarm about the latter. The FBI and the NSA recently announced that the ceasefire has not averted the threat of cyberattacks.

Hacker groups supporting Tehran may continue to try to disrupt or cripple critical infrastructure, such as the power grid, transportation services or the economy, the two well-known agencies say. Arms and defense equipment manufacturers, as well as other American companies with ties to Israel, may also continue to be targeted.

The US Secret Service announcement also contains recommendations for strengthening digital protection, such as regularly installing software updates and using secure password management systems.

Following the US attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities, hackers attacked American banks, weapons and defense equipment manufacturing companies, and energy enterprises, but did not cause major problems or damage.

In 2022, Albania faced such attacks from Iran, which were described by local and international experts as an organized and unprecedented strike in terms of scale and power of action.

Our country received immediate assistance from the United States, while cybersecurity was made a key focus by the government. Assistance was also provided by NATO, EU, OSCE, Israel, and the United Arab Emirates.
