The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said that he expects many troubles and problems in Kosovo, but did not specify more. During the Vidovdan celebration in Belgrade, Vucic spoke about the developments in Kosovo, who also said that Kosovo is trying to destroy our country.
"I don't know how it will go with Kosovo. They try to break and destroy our country from the inside," Vucic said at a rally organized by the Serbian Progressive Party.
Vidovdani is a religious holiday, which is marked by the Serbian Orthodox Church, as a commemoration of the suffering of the Serbs in the battle against the Turkish army in Kosovo, in the year 1389. The Serbian Patriarch, Porfirije, participated in a memorial service in Graçanica, Kosovo.
He said that he calls on everyone to contribute to peace in Kosovo, while he asked the Kosovo Serbs to teach everyone by their example.
In the northern part of Kosovo, where the majority population is Serbian, tensions have been high since the end of May. The Serbs protest against the Albanian mayors of the municipalities and demand the withdrawal of the special unit of the Kosovo Police.
Tensions have also worsened in violent clashes between Serbian protesters and soldiers of the NATO mission, KFOR. Also, attacks with hand grenades and other tools have been reported.
