Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has paid tribute to fashion legend Giorgio Armani following the news of his death at the age of 91.
Through social networks, Meloni wrote: “ Giorgio Armani left us at the age of 91. With his elegance, maturity and creativity, he brought prestige to Italian fashion and inspired the whole world. An icon, a tireless worker, a symbol of the best of Italy. Thank you for everything. ”
Armani, born on July 11, 1934 in Piacenza, is considered one of the greatest designers in history, revolutionizing Italian and world fashion. He began his career in Milan and founded his iconic brand in 1975, becoming a symbol of Italian elegance, minimalism and sophistication.
Over more than five decades in fashion, Armani not only created memorable collections but also a global empire that includes the Emporio Armani lines, perfumes, accessories and luxury hotels. He always worked until the end, personally approving his 50th anniversary collection just days before his death.
