Urban chaos in the heart of Europe: Car hits children in Berlin, bus crushes

Europe has been shaken again by two serious road incidents that occurred on the same day, one in Berlin and another in London, reigniting fears over urban safety and the authorities' readiness to prevent tragedies in populated centers.

At around 1:10 p.m. on Thursday, a car crashed into a group of children in the Wedding district of Berlin. According to Bild, 15 children aged 7-8 were being accompanied by a teacher when the car hit them. Three children were slightly injured, while the teacher was taken to hospital in a serious condition. According to Reuters, authorities are treating the incident as a “traffic accident”, while the driver has been questioned and has not been injured.

Meanwhile, in London, just a few hours earlier, at around 8:20 a.m., a number 24 bus veered off the road and crashed into pedestrians on Victoria Street, near Victoria Central Station. 17 people were injured, including the bus driver, who is in hospital along with 14 others. Two other people were treated at the scene.

Footage from the scene showed the bus's windshield shattered and fuel spilled on the road, forcing police to ban smoking in the area to avoid any explosions. Witnesses described chaotic scenes of screaming and people lying on the ground, as residents and staff from a nearby gym rushed to help the injured.
