The leader of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, was taken to his final residence today, with a private ceremony in St. Petersburg.
Prigozhin's funeral was held in complete secrecy, in a closed circle, in a suburban cemetery, next to his father. Meanwhile, the media have published the first images, as no people can be seen near the grave.
"The head of PMC Wagner was buried like a stray dog and without military honors in an unnamed cemetery next to his father," Ukrainians comment.
In another news it is reported that "Putin and his 'beloved brother' Kadyrov did not come to say goodbye to the head of Wagner".
Prigozhin's press office earlier announced that his farewell "was held in a closed circle" and that "those who wish to say goodbye can visit the Porokhovsky cemetery."
Prigozhin died on August 23 when the plane he was traveling in crashed, two months after Wagner's uprising posed the biggest challenge to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Absolute secrecy was observed surrounding the preparations for his funeral, as this morning the Kremlin announced that Putin would not attend the ceremony.
Two other senior Wagner executives, Valery Chekalov and Dmitry Utkin, four of Prigozhin's bodyguards and three crew members were also killed when the Embraer Legacy 600 private jet crashed in Tver, north of Moscow.
