The Kremlin posted a video on social media showing the two leaders driving together to an official reception. The two are seen eagerly inviting each other to get into the car. Prior to this moment, they had held bilateral meetings at the Chinese state complex.
The meeting and friendly gestures between Putin and Kim Jong-un highlighted the close political and diplomatic ties that Russia and North Korea are building at a time of global tensions. North Korea has even sent troops to fight alongside Russia against Ukraine.
China's President Xi Jinping welcomed several world leaders as he opened the country's largest military parade ever on Wednesday, a demonstration of its growing military power and geopolitical influence.
The 70-minute parade featured spectacular air shows, marching bands and a range of modern military equipment, including hypersonic missiles, unmanned drones and sophisticated tanks. Xi Jinping inspected the meticulously lined-up troops before delivering a keynote speech to guests and the public.
