The attacks from Moscow on Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni continue. The attacks the day before by Russian moderator Vladimir Solovyev brought very strong reactions in Italy.
He used insulting and derogatory words, which led Rome to summon the Russian ambassador for clarification. The president and the prime minister herself also reacted harshly. However, the Russian journalist reacted again today.
During a broadcast on the “Solovyev Live” channel, he addressed Meloni directly with a long and harsh statement:
“ Mrs. Meloni, you are being addressed by a man, a Jew, whom the Italian authorities have once again subjected to persecution. Such things have not happened only once in the history of Italy. It is not a propagandist who is addressing you, but a Jew and an anti-fascist, to you, a follower of the fascist Mussolini, who took part in the war against the Soviet people and who, like Hitler, is personally responsible for the death of 27 million Soviet citizens, for the genocide of the Soviet people and for the Holocaust against the Jews. You, by sharing Mussolini’s ideas, become complicit in all the crimes of fascist Italy and, consequently, must bear responsibility for them. In any case, you show sympathy for these crimes, supporting the Ukrainian Nazi state, which commits terrorist acts on the territory of Russia and has not hidden the preparation of many murders: among the declared targets of the Ukrainian authorities is me. And when you answer me personally, always keep this in mind .”
Solovyev also referred to the seizure of his villa in Como, as part of sanctions against Russia following its invasion of Ukraine, describing this as "persecution."
His statements are expected to further escalate tensions. The reaction comes on the same day that the Russian ambassador to Italy was summoned to the Italian Foreign Ministry.
Earlier, Ambassador Alexey Paramonov had stated that no Russian representative had expressed insults towards Meloni or Italy, a position that contradicts Soloviev's recent statements.
